Water Day 20.3.2024 The Slovak Mining Museum is pleased to announce that the event “The Science of Water”, which took place on 20 March in the Jozef Kollár Gallery, was a great success. This unique event, focused on discovering water in art and nature, was made possible thanks to the support of Norway Grants and the state budget of the Slovak Republic.

 

The event was attended by children from primary schools in the Banská Štiavnica region. During a couple hours, the children showed their creativity as well as dedication to open up to new knowledge. They unraveled various mysteries; for example, why the statues in the Gallery “drink” water and we have to keep watch so they do not drink so much that they burst. Another one was a mystery that is inextricably linked to Banská Štiavnica: how water once almost destroyed and in the end saved mining in our town. The children also revealed which of the Štiavnica artists loved water so much that he immortalized it in each of its states.

We would like to express our gratitude to all those who participated in the organization and implementation of this event, as well as to all the participants for their invaluable contributions. Together we have taken a significant step in spreading awareness of the importance of water in our lives and the need to protect our natural resources for future generations.
