The project “Resonance in Silence” is a unique initiative of the Slovak Mining Museum, aimed at education and raising awareness about climate change. Within the framework of this project, an international workshop was held, bringing together artists, teachers and students in two countries - Slovakia and Norway.
In Slovakia, the workshop was led by Oto Hudec, a renowned artist and educator, and Martina Martincová, a curator and gallery education expert. In Norway, it was led by the multi-media artist Damian Vega and a gallery education expert from Dalane Folkemuseum. The workshops focused on the connection between art and ecology, and through various activities involved learning about nature, its conservation and importance in our lives.
During the workshops, children experienced a variety of activities that allowed them to delve deeper into the world of art and ecology. Many of them used the opportunity to express creatively their feelings and thoughts about nature and climate change. Collaborating with artists and educators gave children new perspectives and inspiration on how they can actively engage in environmental protection. The children perceived the workshops as an exciting and enlightening adventure that broadened their perception of the world around them.
On the final day of the workshop in Slovakia, journalists were invited to record and broadcast the experiences that the children gathered during the workshop. The day was the culmination of a three-day programme full of learning, creating and inspiration. The “Resonance in Silence” workshop is an example of how we can cross boundaries and bring young people together for a better future.
The Green Mission project of the Slovak Mining Museum is funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the state budget of the Slovak Republic. It aims to create active civic and professional communities that work together to protect the environment and respond to climate change.
This workshop is just one of the many activities of the Green Mission, which highlights the importance of intergenerational dialogue and international partnerships. Watch our website for further updates and details on this and other Green Mission activities.
