12. December 2023Official opening of the project “Green Mission of the Slovak Mining Museum”
On 22 November 2023, we were happy to celebrate the launch of the “Green Mission of the Slovak Mining Museum” project, a response to climate change symbolized by last year's warmest autumn in Slovakia's history.
This project, which is financially supported by Norwegian grants and co-financed by the Slovak Republic's state budget, focuses on integrating cultural and ecological aspects in both working with the public and conservation of cultural-historical heritage. Our main goal is to promote educational and community activities focused on environmental sustainability and to actively involve the public in actions to mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis.
Revitalization of the public spaces of the museum and gallery, an international scientific colloquium, a children's art and education workshop and intergenerational cooperation are just some of the many activities that are part of this initiative. The “Green Mission” project aims to create a harmonious link between history and the present, taking into account the protection of the environment and monuments in the UNESCO site of Banská Štiavnica.
During the official opening, our experts made engaging presentations of all activities to be implemented during the project. The results of the project teams’ work should be completed and made open to the public gradually from March to June 2024.
